James Caird Society Dinner

On Friday 31st October three of the trustees of the ReQuest Foundation attended the James Caird Society dinner at Dulwich College - Alan Noake, Jan Chojecki and Cathy Mummery. The key note speaker for the evening was Annette Bombosch from our partner organisation - The Polar Collective - and she generously gave the ReQuest Foundation a mention on their opportunities slide.

You can just see our ReQuest Foundation pop-up banners at the back of the room!

PROJECTS

Second Round of Applications For Youth Polar Projects

We have recently awarded £200 to Sophie Mothersele - her personal project is all about how extreme cold affects the body in the Arctic Circle. We have also given £100 to Nicholas Mullins - his project is looking at the impact of climate change on the retreat of the ice sheet in the Arctic Circle. Both are members of the Kent Scouts ArcticQuest2026 polar research project. Young People aged 16-24 can apply for support and funding via our website. They just need an advocate from a school or organisation and a great idea for a polar project. The next deadline for applications is 31st January 2026.

CASE STUDY

Sam's Southern Ocean Monitoring Project

Sam Payne is one of our charity trustees. He completed his polar project whilst in Antarctica in 2022.  He launched two Argo devices (ocean-monitoring instruments) during the expedition. These generate data directly into the international Argo research network.

PARTNER PROFILE

Dundee Heritage Trust

The trust now displays the Sir Ernest Shackleton memorial cross, known as the Hope Cross, at Discovery Point in Dundee. ReQuest Chairman - Alan Noake - visited the cross in October 2025. Visit Website

Alongside the Hope Cross exhibition sits some of the earliest photography of the Hope Cross at Grytviken, kindly provided to Dundee Heritage Trust by Jan Chojecki one of our ReQuest Trustees.
